The legislation would provide $1.6 billion in U.S. taxpayer dollars for President Trump’s border wall, which he repeatedly promised during the campaign that Mexico would finance.
Also included in the bill are hundreds of millions of dollars to combat potential interference from Russia or others in the November midterm elections.
The bill would fund all government agencies and departments through the end of the fiscal year, Sept. 30. Congress must send the bill to Trump by midnight Friday to avoid a government shutdown.
